Jazz at Noon – Milwaukee Podcast | Episode Ten "The More, The Merrier"

June 15, 2020 by

“The More, The Merrier” - Starting off with a solo, transitioning to a trio and concluding with a quintet, this episode features seven different Milwaukee-area musicians.

Songs:

Gone with the Wind - Allie Wrubel - The song was published in 1937, one year after Margaret Mitchell’s novel Gone with the Wind was released. However, the lyrics of the song have little to no correlation to the subject of the novel so it’s difficult to determine if the two are related. This version is a solo on the guitar from Don Linke. The recording is quite current as it was originally performed on Feb 24th, 2020.

I’m Old Fashioned - Jerome Kern - This song was featured in the 1942 film You Were Never Lovelier. Originally recorded on June 26th, 2019, the Jazz At Noon version of this classic features Sam Belton on drums, George Welland on bass and Don Linke on guitar.

Like Stanley T. - Don Linke Trialogue - This is an original song from the Don Linke Trialogue album, Momentum. The trialogue consists of Don Linke, Victor Campbell and Clay Schaub. However, the Jazz At Noon version, recorded on July 24th, 2019, is a quintet. The quintet includes Jesse Montijo on the alto saxophone, Ken Kosut on piano, Clay Schaub on bass, Victor Campbell on the drums and Don Linke on guitar.
