Jazz at Noon – Milwaukee Podcast | Episode Five "Cool Dreams"
“Cool Dreams” Jazz At Noon Podcast Episode #5 features the jazz stylings of:
Rich Kremer - Bass, Dave Ruetz - Drums, Chris Newlin - Guitar, Jesse Montijo - Alto Sax, Ken Kosut – Piano
“You Stepped Out of a Dream” - Nacio Herb Brown - A centerpiece in the 1941 musical Ziegfeld Girl, in which it was sung by Tony Martin and accompanied an iconic image of Lana Turner walking down a grand staircase. In this version, Dave Ruetz plays the drums with Rich Kremer on bass and Don Linke on guitar.
“Let’s Cool One” - Thelonious Monk - This song is a contrast to most of Monk’s other tunes in that it is one of the most singable of all of his compositions. Here, it’s interpreted by Chris Newlin playing the guitar and assisted by Victor Campbell on drums and Don Linke on bass.
“Black Nile”- Wayne Shorter - From Shorter’s 1964 album, “Night Dreamer”. This is the very first recording made of the Jazz at Noon series, from November 14th, 2018. It’s a quartet featuring Jesse Montijo on alto sax, Ken Kosut on piano, Victor Campbell on drums, and Don Linke on bass.
